The foundation of Looks is to take ‘in the flesh’ images and turn them into something special without that feeling of artifice often associated with “selling an idea”. Although many marketing messages may have to be scripted and heavily planned, without a sense of real emotion they lack that ability to communicate. And that’s what this team can do – create a true feeling, shot with realism, grit and beauty, that’s one of a kind and relatable.
Two of the samples on this site, “A Tour Through Saint Louis” and “The Gateway Cup” were produced in very different ways. The latter was a weekend bike event. After shooting the cyclists racing through the streets of Saint Louis the idea was to mash the music from the Hutchinson Tire Video (”The Hustle” by Alan Wilkis) with the cycling going on that weekend. To that effect we brought out the feeling of the races, international cyclists and locals, to the forefront with a wink and nod to a previous viral video, creating an original depiction of the Gateway Cup and first leg of the Tour of Missouri.
“A Tour Through Saint Louis” answers the question ‘What do people in Saint Louis do in the summertime?’ set to an ethereal track “Shiver” by 2020Soundsystem. The goal was to reinforce the image of Saint Louis as a great family town, but also to illustrate the dynamism of the city through the large scale works of art, industrial landscapes, and busy streets.
Looks is a cost-effective video production company for these times. I provide video services throughout the Midwest for public relations, marketing, promotional, and advertising initiatives. The idea is to always provide as lean a production as possible, drawing upon my years of experience in reality television, documentary, and non-fiction media without sacrificing any of the clients’ end goals – that is, the creativity, emotion, and messages they want to communicate to their customers, or the public at large.
